For many in Bedford, Herd will need no introduction.

Famous for their fantastic burgers and good vibes, and, as I’ve recently discovered, their top notch Sunday roasts!

You can find Herd on St Cuthbert’s Street, just a few minutes walk from Bedford's town centre, it’s vibrant mural will draw you in. The terrace is the perfect place to enjoy al fresco dining and cocktails in the summer. The restaurant has cool, industrial feel and is open from lunch till late. Some nights, it's open very late indeed with live music events in the bar and secret basement too.

Drinks in the bar at Herd, Bedford

The menu is fully loaded with some of Bedfordshire's best burgers and fried chicken, as well as an abundance of delicious sides and loaded fries to choose from. As if that wasn't enough, Herd is also very famous indeed for it's Sunday lunch offering. It was the most recommended to me when I first started my hunt for the best roasts in the area.

I finally made it to try the roast dinner and it did not disappoint! I went for the roast sirloin of beef which was cooked beautifully and came with some fantastic roast potatoes, plenty of veg and a yorkshire pudding. More importantly, it came served on a big plate, rather than piled up on a little tiny plate like a lot of other restaurants. Plus, we had 2 servings of the gravy and it was delicious.

I couldn't resist ordering ' Bedford's best cauliflower cheese' as it was named on the menu, and it most definitely lived up to it's name. It was incredibly cheesy, decadent and saucy as tou can see in the photo. The cauliflower is finely chopped which made it even better! I now make my own cauliflower cheese like this too.

Herd needs to be top of your list for places to try, it is one of my favourite spots and I return again and again.

Head over to get your burger fix, have a few cocktails or for their famous Sunday roast.  Plus it's dog friendly, so you can bring your pooch along too

They also regularly host live music in the bar and DJ nights in the basement, well worth checking out.
